Ma Chambre

2005 0920

After a few hours of being woken up every time the fridge in my room kicked in, I’ve spent my first night in this very room. This was, in fact, where the first similarity with Yorkshire was discovered, in that double glazing and real curtains block out all sound and light from the neighbourhood. In all, quite different from my accustomed nights of mamy ambulances in London.

After a leisurely breakfast in the local brasserie, I met up with Sam, who arrived this morning, and we decided to tackle BNP Paribas. After a confusing incident with the air lock that povided access to said establishment, we finally got the message to come back next thursday (the earliest they could fit us in) to attempt to open an account. Cue lunch: Camembert sandwich, et un demi de pression.

An afternoon of shopping and annoying the receptionist to the residence with our incompetence at both the French language and university régime later, we tackled the kitchen, after its eventual discovery. But that’s a story for another day.
