Beaujolais Nouveau

The week of the anniversary of my birth, some 22 years ago, has drawn to an end today after an entire weekend of rehearsals, and a rather interesting orchestral soiree last night. Most of this seemed to involved eating, drinking and generally making a mess of one of the college’s flagship lecture theatres, whilst playing loud music, karaoke and the curiously titled le blind test - although I’m not sure that one’s ability to listen to a piece of music and name the composer and film is affected if you cannot see.

On the second day of having no hot water whatsoever, I was taken out last tuesday to a rather super little restaurant in the Butte aux Cailles called Fusion. After the obligatory singing of the official English birthday tune, we ended up in the pictured Folie en Tête - conveniently the closest bar to the college.

This week is also the 2 month anniversary of my arrival in Paris, and what better way to celebrate that than the release of this year’s Beaujolais Nouveau. Hurrah!

Yes, unfortunately they don’t believe in Englsih beer over here. But they do have Belgian stuff, and it is indeed the finest. The best bit is that drinking Hoegarden is actually an affordable hobby over here!
